Different cooperatives have different membership and labor models. Our Co-op is set up in the following way:

Non-working members (those who do not want to/do not have time to do 3hrs a month):

• 3.5% discount (all the time).
• First year sign up no charge.
• Following years annual fee of $40.

Working Members

• 10% discount
• 3hr/ month

Super worker

• 16% discount
• 8hrs/month

Members may also work more to receive a better discount; if you are a non-working member and have the time to work 3 hours in one month, you will receive a 10% off voucher, good for the next month. This applies also if working members work 8 hours in one month; they will receive a 16% off voucher good for the next month.

Membership Q&A

• What membership level am I on?

  If you did a shift last month you have been noted as a working member. If we haven't seen you in a while will be considered a non-working member. You will receive a 3% discount next time you shop starting in November. Supermember hours & discounts have started. Please contact the store if you would like to become a super member.

• Can a non-member become a superworker for a month?

  Yes. The voucher system allows members to "jump" membership categories and be rewarded for their additional help. Members do not have to dedicate themselves to a worker or superworker level in order to receive the appropriate discount.

• Can you do work numerous hours at one time if you know you will be away?

• Yes. We encourage it.

• Do superworker hours count as 2 shifts?

• No. Superworker are in 8hrs/month. Two shifts only = 6. If you want to work 6 hours and have credit for 2 months that is fine.

• If I work for only 3 hrs do I need a voucher?

  Yes if you are jumping from non-member to super/worker or worker to super/worker.

• Do I need to schedule superworker hours?

  Preferably. If you schedule your hours we can dedicate specific tasks to you. If you just pop-in you will help with whatever is needed at the moment.

• If I work 8 hrs one month and 3 the next do I get 16% discount for 2 months?

  No. You get 16% one month and 10% the next.

• I am a current member but have not done any time. Do I need to pay the annual membership fee to receive the discount?

  If you have not done any time you can come in and get a 3% discount. Your annual fee will not be due until June 2010.

Working together builds trust through cooperation and teamwork enables us to keep prices as low as possible within the context of our values and principles. Both members and non-members may shop but members enjoy price discounts. We are a buying agent for our members and not a selling agent for any industry.
