The mission of the South Bronx Food Cooperative is to provide affordable and nutritious food to all
residents of the South Bronx (and NYC) while empowering the local community by encouraging
good health, providing relevant job skills and fostering environmentally responsible activities
through democratic cooperation.

Our objectives are to:

		Enrich the community by providing affordable, nutritious, organic, environmentally
		responsible food and products throughout the year.
		Teach valued job and communication skills to members.
		Work to address and solve issues of hunger experienced by local residents.
		Educate members to the benefits of healthy eating and living.
		Instill a sense of empowerment and involvement through democratic participation.
		Work in conjunction with local farmers, CSAs, Farmer’s Markets and educational
		institutions.

The SBFC is also an environmentally conscious organization.
We are strong supporters of environmental advocacy and seek to improve any way we possibly can.

The SBFC will avoid toxic substances, animal tested products, and products that are irradiated
and/or genetically engineered.

At all times the cooperative will engage in recycling efforts, minimize disposable
products and will prefer biodegradable products and packaging.

We encourage members to utilize reusable bags when shopping at the cooperative
to reduce waste.

The cooperative will also collaborate in various fuel efficiency programs and energy
conservation methods.

The SBFC is committed to diversity, equality and tolerance. We oppose

members and non-members.
